Training
This training is specifically designed for medical professionals who are experienced in the process of providing the medical evaluation for children who are suspected victims of child abuse.

Topics to be covered include: role of the medical provider; collaboration in the medical community; evaluation and diagnostic approach of child physical and sexual abuse; Munchausen by Proxy; the internet as a tool of abuse and seduction; documentation and interpretation of findings; diagnostic dilemmas; testifying as the medical expert; use of technology; networking; peer review and multi-disciplinary team development. Participants are required to submit case presentation(s).

Each participant will receive a notebook of resource materials, continuing education credits, and will benefit from networking opportunities with colleagues from across the country.

Target Audience
This training is appropriate for physicians, nurse practitioners, SANE Nurses or other RN’s with advanced training, and physician’s assistants that have experience in the field of child abuse evaluation. This training is not intended for nurses or other health care providers whose role is to assist an examiner.

Eligibility
Applicants must have more than 300 exams and/or 3 years experience.

Length
Each AMTA is three days. Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota designates this educational activity for category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award, for a total of 22.5 CME credits awarded at the end of this training.

Cost/Application
$700. Tuition fee covers: individual hotel room for 3 nights, training materials and all meals EXCEPT Friday night dinner. Participant is responsible for transportation. Tuition Assistance: There are a limited number of opportunities available. Please contact your RCAC for more information.
