2007 Legislation—State by State

As the CAC movement gains momentum and many CACs are in search of sustainability, numerous states are seeking legislation and legislative funding from their states. The first question many policy makers ask is: “What are other states doing?” Well, WRCAC has responded to your need by conducting a survey of each of the states and the District of Columbia. We have compiled that information and put it at your finger tips.

The Western Regional CAC with the assistance of an intern from the Montana State University and input from the Regional CACs, the District of Columbia and the State Chapter Representatives across the country compiled important legislative information from each state for your reference. WRCAC developed an excel spreadsheet that you can download that contains the following information:

1.

Passed or drafted legislation specifically addressing MDTs and/or CACs

2.  A summary of the legislation and a website link and a complete copy of each state’s legislation (additional PDF attached)
3.  State funding information for CACs -- Which states get it and what is the funding formula used to distribute those funds to CACs.
4.  The Organizational Capacity of each State Chapter Organization.

In addition to the spreadsheet, you will find a PDF containing actual copies of all legislation available from each state.
