NCAC Digital Library - CALiO

The Western Regional CAC is pleased to provide State Chapters and member CACs with access to the NCAC Digital Library
For more than a year, the National Children’s Advocacy Center Research Library has been collecting electronic resources, databases and online journals that can benefit Children’s Advocacy Centers in their mission of preventing and responding to child abuse. This Digital Library on child abuse includes many resources that are open access and easily retrieved from the NCAC Web site.

These resources are now available to you through support by the Western Regional CAC.

And it is free! But you must register for access. Download the registration form on this page, sign it and return it to WRCAC.

Digital Library Collections
The Digital Library collections include resources that are governed by copyright law, which restricts access. These resources include professional databases and online journals. As a result, measures must be implemented to limit access to these resources. The Digital Library now has set up and tested the technology to make these resources available to you.

Core Collection
The first group of restricted-access resources available to you is a Core Collection of the most important professional journals and databases. This Core Collection includes four databases:

  • sycInfo from the American Psychological Association
  • PubMed from the National Library of Medicine
  • PILOTS from the National Center for PTSD
  • ERIC from the U.S. Educational Resources Information Center

The core collection of professional journals includes 12 of the most important journals in our field:
  • Child Abuse & Neglect
  • Child Abuse Review
  • Child Maltreatment
  • Child Welfare
  • Journal of Aggression, Maltreatment & Trauma
  • Journal of Child Sexual Abuse
  • Journal of Family Violence
  • Journal of Interpersonal Violence
  • Journal of Traumatic Stress
  • Sexual Abuse: Journal of Research & Treatment
  • Social Work
  • Trauma, Violence & Abuse

The Digital Library – CALiO (The Child Abuse Library Online)
The Digital Library will soon be called CALiO (i.e., the Child Abuse Library Online). The newly revised site will include links to almost 600 professional journals in Psychology and the Behavioral Sciences (and feature an expanded Core Collection of the most important journals for MDT professionals in CACs). It will also include some new databases, including the Foundation Directory Online for searching for funding sources.

NCAC and the Western Regional Children’s Advocacy Center have partnered to bring you this powerful resource. One of the benefits of being a Chapter Member, an Associate Member or an Accredited Member Center of NCA is that you receive access to NCACs Digital Library at no cost to you.

Western Region Rollout
The Western Regional CAC is initiating access to this valuable collection of resources to our region. Because these resources are limited access, you must register for access and agree to comply with copyright restrictions governing access and use of the resources.

Who is Eligible?
All State Chapters and Associate and Accredited NCA Member CACs in the Western Region are eligible for access to these resources. Developing CACs can contact their State Chapter for assistance with receiving information from the Digital Library.

Eligible Chapter or CACs will receive a Username and Password for access to the collections when they register.

All members of the multidisciplinary team of eligible CACs can use the Username and Password, if they sign the agreement to comply with copyright restrictions.

Cost
The Digital Library resources provided through this program are part of the collections of the NCAC Research Library. Access to these collections for Chapters and CACs is made possible in part through support from the Western Regional CACs. There is no access charge for Chapters and CACs.

SIGN UP NOW
The registration process takes a bit of time and effort on your part. It is easy, but cannot be completed at a moment’s notice. So you should sign up now in anticipation of the times in the future when you will want access.

There is a Registration Form for Chapters and a separate Registration form for Member CACs on our website. Simply complete the appropriate Registration Form posted on this page.  Please print out the the form, sign it and scan it in and email it to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it   or you can fax it to the Western Regional CAC at 719-884-0009 or mail it using the address on the form. You will receive a confirming email with your Username and Password.
